Better holidays

“We often live with a forward momentum. When you suddenly stop, it can feel like musical chairs, and the music has just stopped and your standing there and you don’t have a chair. And that’s really disconcerting, because part of what we do, which I think leads to a lot of burnout and existential struggle, is we take meaning from motion. We take meaning from performance. And then when I take away the motion, what happens to my meaning?”

Jerry Colonna

Have you managed to take a break this holiday season? And have you truely switched off and recharged?

Some find it an anxious struggle to take a proper break from their work. We are so used to be busy. We get used to being fully booked up. We like to operate at 110%. This is what provides most of the meaning in our lives.

So what happens when attempt a time out? Are we relaxed and present with our loved ones? Are we doing wholesome activities which recharge our batteries?

Don’t fall into the trap of trying to make your holidays “productive”. That is not rest.

We need that rest so we can arrive to the new year with that sense of energy and excitement so we can be at our best for our customers, clients and colleagues.

How could you do holidays different but better?
