Whatever is seeking you is what you should seek

“What you seek is seeking you.”

Rumi

How do you find purpose in your life?

Do you choose it, or does it somehow come to you?

After many years of ‘searching’ for passion and purpose, recently I have discovered that it seems just to appear when you are ready for it. It kind of hits you in the face and then all of a sudden seems like it was so obvious all along, but you were ignoring all the signs, while caught up in busy pursuits that weren’t all that fulfilling.

Once you start following that path, things seem much easier. It’s like playing to your natural strengths. People compliment you on what you’re doing and say how they could never do that. You feel more joy and happiness when aligned with that direction. You get in a state of flow and time slips away while in deep focus.

Sometimes you’re surprised about what comes out of you. I’ve often wondered, ‘where did that come from?’ You are comfortable being more vulnerable as it feels like the right thing to do.

It can be overwhelming to wonder how you will actually get to what you’re seeking. I have noticed that I come across big ideas that seem impossible to pursue, given where I am now. But then I realise that if I never start anything, then I will never get anywhere. So I may as well start small, where ever I can, and see where that leads.

I am experimenting more with having faith in that inner voice and following my intuition. The old traditional ways of keeping your head down and doing what you’re told weren’t really working out for me. Now I am trusting the process, showing up, and being open to possibility.

Who knows where it may lead… It’s better than the alternative.

Reflection

Today I will create the space to reflect for 30 minutes alone and listen for my intuition.

How can I make this a daily practice and trust the process?
