“Be brave enough to start a conversation that matters.”
Margaret Wheatley
We seemed to be so focused on what is quick and expedient. We rush from one encounter to another. We opt for the sound bite over an in-depth article.
Why is this the case?
Maybe the nature of technology, social media and the news has made us this way. Perhaps we are just so busy and balancing so many plates that it’s all attention we can afford right now.
Surely this isn’t the best long term strategy? Fractured attention. Being spread too thin. Where’s the meaning in that?
We are missing out on so much goodness by choosing to be shallow.
So much joy and meaning can come from a deep conversation. We don’t have enough courageous conversations about the things that matter to us. Maybe we are scared of putting ourselves out there or getting shut down. But this is no way to live. Notice how people seem to light up with passion when they talk about something that means a lot to them.
Let’s experience that joy of a good conversation. A brave conversation.
Reflection
