Hello friends,
Thanks again for being here!
I’ve been very quiet on the blog recently. We sadly had a family member pass away in the last month. So I have been taking some time out to process things. To be honest, I haven’t really felt motivated to work during this time.
Tragic times like these force us to pause and reflect on the bigger picture and what really matters in life. I’ve come to see the importance of family and close relationships and their power as we pull together and support each other during difficult times.
This downtime has helped me see that we should be nurturing these relationships more outside of the times of tragedy. There will be inevitable times when we need help and support from our loved ones. So it’s crucial to build up that emotional bank account by being there for others when they need it.
The pause in work also made me more aware of the seasons of life and that we can’t be super productive all the time. Sometimes we go through our own personal “winter”, which is ok. It’s not all about creative output, and sometimes our most important work is internal. It’s essential to do this work, and it helps to know that “spring” is just around the corner.
Here’s an insight, a question, and a quote I reflected on over the last week.
💡 Meet friends more often
The pandemic has made us more comfortable being hermits. It’s easy to sit home all day and avoid social engagements. I enjoy time alone at home as an introvert, but I have noticed a dip in my wellbeing when I go too long without those catch-ups with friends. Make an effort. It could be a simple coffee or an extravagant dinner.
❔ A new approach to downtime
It’s easy to fill our breaks with small admin tasks or doom scrolling social media. Often we feel more drained after the “rest”, and that doesn’t feel like the point of downtime.
How could you better hold the space for real downtime? What would I need to look like to “fill your cup”?
💬 A Quote to Ponder
