Sometimes we need a break

I’m back online here for the first time in a while.

I took a nice break from social media and blogging after feeling a sense of burnout and overwhelm.

It was a busy period in my life as I finished a positive psychology diploma while juggling the ups and downs of work and personal life. Something had to give before I drove myself crazy while keeping up with an endless loop of searching for inspiring inputs and reflecting before creating content outputs.

It’s strange how this has become a real issue for many people in today’s world. You hear all this motivational talk about creating “side hustles”, which sound great, but we underestimate how demanding it really is.

It can take a serious toll on our ability to lead a whole life with quality relationships. It can become impossible to switch off the “hustle” mindset. For example, it’s not helpful to be consumed by your never-ending to-do list while trying to be present at dinner with your daughter.

We don’t have to keep struggling in the conditions we choose to create.

We can choose to operate our days in other, less stressful and more sustainable ways.

Do you feel this sense of over-commitment in your life? If not from maintaining an online presence, maybe from maintaining some other ideal.

If somethings not working, it could be time to take time out. Refocus on what is really important.

Come back refreshed and re-energised.

We want you to be at your best. And we are happy to wait.

Play the long game.
