Creating vs consuming information

What you create is what really changes things. Not some random insight you read online. 

It’s tempting just to consume information all day. There is a lot of it – a never-ending barrage pouring into our brains. We get FOMO and feel like we are missing out if we are not always connected to our feeds. So we are always searching, keeping an eye out for that perfect inspiration or insight, looking to get the edge over our competitors.

But the real work happens when we get offline and do the work that matters. It could be writing the article, creating a course, drafting a proposal, recording the podcast, or applying for the job. 

Wouldn’t it be better if we just got that done first?

That is what is going to move the needle. Sure, some inspiration is helpful, but there is a point where it is plain old procrastinating.
